Born in Moscow in 1886.

In 1904-1905 attended K.F. Yuon's and I.I. Mashkov's studios and from 1905 to 1912 studied under V.A. Serov and K.A. Korovin at the School of Painting, Modelling and Architecture.

From 1906 exhibited his works.

Between 1918 and 1928 taught at the VKhUTEMAS.

Associated with the 'World of Art, 'The Knave of Diamonds', Obmokhu and AkhRR (Association of Arts of Revolutionary Russia) groups.

Did paintings and graphic works.

Died in Moscow in 1958.
