Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1945.

After he moved to Paris, he took up photography in 1973.

He is famous for his portraits of celebrated men of letters and artists, as well as cityscapes and sights of different parts of the world.

His works have been exhibited at numerous solo and group shows in France, Italy, Brazil and other countries.

Several art books have reproduced his photographs, which have also got broad coverage in the press.

Freire lives in Paris.
