Born in London on 15 April 1933.

He studied architecture and interior design and subsequently typography.

From 1953 Hamilton worked as a graphic designer for Elle in Paris, then as an art director for the Queen magazine in London and then back in Paris as an art director of the Printemps retail chain. It was then that he took up photography seriously.

Later Hamilton worked for many fashion magazines, such as Vogue, Realites and Playboy.

For quite a while Hamilton worked for the TV and in addition made five feature films.

His photographs were exhibited at hundreds of shows in Europe, America and Japan; many art books, monographs and articles reproduced and dealt with his works.

Major museum and private collections the world over have Hamiltons works in their collections.
