Born in Cavaillon, France, in 1943.

He took up photography as a teenager.

In 1959 he met the photographer Georges Glasberg and together with him travelled across France, taking pictures primarily of church architecture.

In 1963 Jonvelle became an assistant to the American photographer Richard Avedon.

Subsequently he embarked on his own career, focusing on the women theme.

Jonvelle contributed to numerous photo festivals and exhibitions and had his works published in France in several art books at different periods.

Jonvelle’s photographs are found in many famous collections of Europe and America.

Jonvelle died on 16 January 2002.
